July 17th 2002 The new Appliance LP is finished! It is called "Are you earthed?" and is released on October the 14th and is preceded by a single called "Go Native" on September the 30th. Between now and then we will endeavour to give you some exclusive listens on our audio downloads page. The track listing for the record is as follows: 01 Tuesday is nearly over It is difficult for us to describe, but we think it is our best album to date. The record sounds more direct than Imperial Metric, with Appliance returning to a live sound, with guitars, drums and though also with greater colour...... Other news, we are confirmed to play a charity festival at the Oxford Zodiac in aid of Shelter on the 7th of September. We will play alongside Pram and other choice outfits. More news, Appliance we be Djing at the Notting Hill Arts Centre on the 27th July as part of an All day event. If you are in the area do come along. May 19th 2002 Appliance are to play a one off show at the Reading Rising sun Art centre, on June 29th with Leaf records artist "Murcof" supporting. The venue has been home to some impressive music nights and the show will be the first time we have played the town. Also, Appliance are using the show to play and road test some of the new songs. On the recording front: March 24th 2002 Appliance have just been confirmed to DJ at the Sputnik night taking place on Friday April 12th at the Monarch, Camden, London. The event is being held in honour of Yuri Gagarin, on the 41st aniversary of man's first trip into space. The night will also feature a weblink to one of the other international parties, performances, space videos and people dressed as cosmonauts and Mig Fighter pilots apparently. Thanks to anyone who came to see us DJ at the Church of Simian night last month at the Brixton Mass, it seemed to be a successful night allround. The album is still running on track and are just about to start mixing. We are looking forward to finishing it and touring soon. Dosvidanya comrades. February 23rd 2002 Appliance will be playing a show on June the 7th at the Exeter Phoenix, as part of a Krautrock night featuring bands and films celebrating the Teutonic take on 20th Century music. For more information about the night and the bands playing, visit krautrocknet.com on the Web. Appliance will also be chancing their arms as D.J.s on March the 2nd at The Church Of Simian (London Brixton Mass) alongside David Holmes, Goldfrapp and the Simian Mobile Disco. Simian, Minotaur Shock and Athlete also play live. We hope we don't disappoint. Until then we are busy writing and recording album No 3. January 30th 2002 Currently, we are holed up in our studio recording the new album. Things are going well and we plan to finish for a September release. However there will be a single before the summer 2002. Expect us to be out and about touring by May/June, hopefully somewhere near you. Thanks to everyone for the support for Imperial Metric, voted no 48 in Rock Sound magazine's top 100 albums of 2001 Although one of their writers, Alex Whitehead made it his number 1 album of the year, which was excellent news. We have also been included in the AMG guide to Electronica available in most good bookshops. We were very honoured to be included. It is a nice publication as well so have a look! Back to the new album, no name as yet, however some initial working titles for the songs are: "Tuesday is nearly over", "Violins", " "Bruises" "As far as I can see" "Blue Rider" " "All the words for snow" and "Fruits" to name but a few. It's sounding fresh and dynamic, we will keep you informed. We might be posting some song edits on the website, so look out for those in the near future. Just to let you all know we have reduced our prices for our back catalogue via our website. If there are holes in your collection now is the time to buy.... Albums £8, CD ep's £4. Anyway that's all for now All the best October 24th 2001. Appliance to support Pulp! Appliance have been asked to support Pulp in Birmingham Acadamy next week! It's part of the Sound City event for the John Peel show, and should be broadcast on Radio One from 11.30pm on October 31st. We are pretty excited about it though quite nervous too. October 11th 2001 John Peel is re-broadcasting our most recent session on the 25th of Oct. We are playing The Oxford Zodiac that night so we will be taping it; hopefully the audience will be too! Appliance have added a new date to the front of their tour with Hefner. The gig, without Hefner and with Appliance headlining, is at the Barfly at the National Centre For Popular Music on October the 16th, Clint Boon Djs after the show. 'Land Sea And Air' is released as the 2nd single off Imperial Metric on October 22nd, and we've made a video using some footage shot of the band at the Curtain Theatre in September (amongst other gorgeous images!) Hope to see some of you at the shows. Autumn Update. Firstly we would like to announce the second single to be taken from our latest LP, Imperial Metric. The single will be 'Land, Sea And Air' and is due to be released on October 22nd. It comes on two formats, Cd / 7". The CD features two remixes and the video for the last single 'A Gentle Cycle Revolution'. Simian rework 'AM/PM' from the new album (also the b-side to 7") and Bridge and Tunnel tackle 'Land, Sea and Air'. Both we think sound great! So thanks to both bands for their creativity. Touring wise we will be going to Belgium, Germany during september and then October sees us on a fairly extensive tour of the UK. For more details visit our tour page. To Coincide with the Autumn tours we have available a new T-Shirt design of the Imperial Metric album. Check out the merchandise page for more details. Also on the Merch page we now have most of our back catelogue of music to purchse online, however we intend to make these available on tour aswell. Other news; The band have started demoing new tracks during the summer and intend to record during the winter. Look out for an Appliance remix for the Hefner single 'Trouble Kid' later in the year, along with a return remix for Bridge and Tunnel soon too. We hope to see you at some of the live shows.
