Who Are You?: Jonathan Wren

Where Are You?: In Catford, South East London

What Are You?: Primary school teacher, aspirant songwriter, very occasional short story writer and purveryor of pop and football articles for fanzines.

What do you make?: Pop, pop, p!o!p! music.

What do you love?: New Super Furry Animals album, old Belle and Sebastian EPs, old Lambchop albums. Hearing fantastic new music. Writing songs. Oh, and Leyton Orient Football Club.

What do you hate?: Disloyalty, crap records, the point when bands let you down. The fact that I spend too much time analysing myself and worrying about things. Injustice and prejudice. Disloyalty. The Daily Mail. Macho blokes and lad culture.

What do you listen to?: As before, plus Mull Historical Society. Pop music, basically. I'm sure many cooler people would balk at my tastes but sod them. Life's too short to worry too much about having a cool record collection.

What do you watch?: Obscure films, Frasier, current affairs. Not much TV really. The sky on a summer's evening; the sunlight and leaves all mingled together in the autumn. Children in my class to make sure they're getting on with what they should be doing!

What do you drink?: Lager. Lager. Some milk and water. With some lager to follow later.

What do you smoke?: Nothing. My chest is fucked up enough as it is.

What do you take?: The Guardian, New Statesman and NME. That is what your meant, surely?

What do you believe in?: The spirit of pop to make life better. Naive, I guess, but all our emotions are in pop.

When We Were 16

Where were you?: At school.

What were you?: Shy, miserable, scared, lacking in any confidence or belief in myself.

What did you wear?: Crap, crap clothes. Oh god! It was bad!

What did you listen to?: Just getting into Sugar and New Order then.

What did you watch?: Don't remember.

What did you love?: Sexy 16 year old girls. Shame I was an ugly git.

What did you hate?: Um, being 16 and having friends who I didn't like.

What did you drink?: Not alcohol, sadly.

What did you smoke?: Nothing.

What did you take?: Nothing.

What did you want to be?: Hadn't a clue.

Who did you fight?: My own miserable self-doubt.

Who/What did you believe in?: I'm sorry, I haven't a clue.

Where did you go?: Nowhere. And I mean that sincerely. I was one boring fucker.

What did you learn?: Shakespeare, Milton and that I was good at writing essays.
