What do you love?: My wife and the rest of my family

What do you hate?: A closed mind, intolerance

What do you listen to?: PJ Harvey, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Ani DiFranco, Velvet Underground, Faye Wang, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Cat Power, Jeff Buckley, The Walkmen, Pinback, .......

What do you watch?: Very little TV, films (esp. with Tom Waits), Japanese and Chinese art house cinema, romantic Hollywood movies with my wife

What do you drink?: Red wine, oatmeal stout and other dark beer, Guiness, Humboldt Hemp, Negro Modelo, any micro-brew or imported beer that looks good

What do you smoke?: 5-10 cigarettes every year; my favorite is still rolling my own Drum

What do you take?: naps when I can

What do you believe in?: That there is more to this universe than people can comprehend; I'm basically agnostic.

When We Were 16

Where were you?: Granite Hills High school in El Cajon, CA (East County, San Diego)

What were you?: A nice guy who moved easily between social groups but spent most of my time within a small group of friends ('alternative/grunge' before the terms were used blended with some coffee-house folk; some used the term Gen X but I never identified with this)

What did you wear?: Overalls and Dr. Martain's, long, long hair, thrift store items (70's butterfly collar shirts, cords, bowling shoes...)

What did you listen to?: Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Sundays, Buzzcocks, The Cure, Love and Rockets, Mazzy Star, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Violent Femmes, Simon and Garfunkel, Digable Plannets

What did you watch?: MTV, Saturday Night Live, Northern Exposure, Saturday Morning cartoons

What did you love?: Music, friends, family

What did you hate?: Country music

What did you drink?: Guiness, Zima

What did you smoke?: Lucky Stike unfiltered (the wacky-tabacy came a year or two later)

What did you take?: Time to walk and think (mushrooms, again, were a couple years away)
