Just had the TV on and was shocked to experience a Suzuki advert in which what sounds like a school choir murders my favourite Mamas and Papas song, 'Go Where You Wanna Go'... oh, the pain, the pain...

Spooky coincidence: playing MP3s on random shuffle, and on comes Lispector’s ‘Space Rocket’. Whilst it’s playing I drop in at the BBC site to check on World News and discover the lead story about the Space Shuttle apparently disintegrating on entry… I mean, how spooky is that? I’d call in Scully and Mulder but they’re both happily kipping on the sofa downstairs and not in the mood for being disturbed.

Well, just uploaded the forgotten Blog entry for Friday, and yes indeed the weekend was partly spent sitting in front of a computer playing at making cities. This was when I was not installing a new hard drive and doing a whole fresh install of XP (and not happy with one, I actually did two separate installs – one for ‘serious’ working, and another for games…) and getting all cross because the fucking Video editing card gave a right old hissy fit when I tried to install it again. Or maybe Windows had the hissy fit, I don’t really know. It’s tucked away in a drawer now anyway in the hopes that when I actually need to use it and try to put it in again then all will be rosy. Maybe the computer knows it’s January too. I mean, I know it knows it’s January but does it really KNOW it’s January? Or something.

I also watched Wonder Boys on Saturday night. It was fab. Sethe, you were right. And I love you too.

I also love Katie Holmes again, because, well, just because. I don’t know why, apart from the obvious maybe.

And I want to write a book. A novel. Something ‘real’. Ha ha ha.

I have to go now. It’s about time to leave school for the day. At last! At last! (and my cold is quite a bit better today, thanks for asking).

Hey there all you London kids – hope you know by now (and if you didn’t you DO now) that those Russian Futurists are in town next weekend, doing a show at the Windmill in Brixton on, uh, Sunday Feb 2. I would of course love to be there but the bind of a Devon classroom desk prevents me… Anyone who happens to go and who happens to carry with them some kind of audio recording equipment, um, well you know where to send copies of tapes/MDs etc, don’t you?

And for all of you wondering who the Russian Futurists are and why you should all be so excited I suggest you check out this ole review of the sublime Lets Get Ready To Crumble album.
