'When I first heard The Associates I was just so excited. They sounded so dramatic and glamorous. Me and my girlfriends would sneak out of cheerleading practice and play '18 Carat Love Affair' over and over again in the locker room. We danced in the showers until we got caught. It was so funny.

I thought Billy Mackenzie had such a great voice. It was almost scary. I didn't know he was dead until after I had heard of him though, and that is such a tragedy. I would love to have recorded a duet with him. There's not really any male singers I'd like to do a record with, but Billy would be one I'd choose if I could.

I wanted to do a cover of his 'Party Fears Two' for Ooops I Did It Again, but the record label said I had to do 'Satisfaction' instead. I hate record labels.
